Champion and bosses can take a lot of damage from sniper weapons. Which one is the best?
Because Destiny 2 has had so many changes and add-ons over the years, different types of weapons have gone up and down in popularity. Over the course of the game’s history, the meta has changed a lot, sometimes making some types of weapons stronger and others less useful.
In PvE, sniper rifles are a great DPS choice for tough tasks like raids and Nightfalls. When you’re not firing a lot of rounds at a boss, you’ll still need a good tool to beat Champions and other tough people. In Destiny 2, these are the ten best PvE Sniper Rifles you should use if you want a good PvE Special weapon.
Fugue-55
For PvE, Fugue-55 is a powerful and flexible weapon. This gun is one of three Sniper Rifles that can be used with the Auto-Loading Holster and the Vorpal Weapon. This makes it great for fighting Champions and some bosses. When your Heavy weapon is being used for boss DPS, the Fugue-55 is a great Special weapon to use on Majors and other enemies that aren’t worth Heavy ammo.
But Fugue isn’t a bad choice if you want a good boss DPS Sniper Rifle. You can use Fourth Time’s the Charm and Firing Line on this weapon, which lets you fire a lot of powerful shots before you have to reload. Though it’s not as good as other DPS sniper rifles like Thoughtless, it works well for low to mid-level material. Watch out for a good roll.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Fourth Time’s the Charm, Auto-Loading Holster
- Column Two: Firing Line, Vorpal Weapon
The Long Walk
Most people who play have forgotten about the Long Walk Sniper Rifle. This Sniper Rifle is found in the Prophecy cave. It hits like a truck and has some great bonuses. The most interesting combo is Overflow and Firing Line, which lets the magazine hold up to eight bullets. With a damage boost that stays with each shot, you’ll be able to deal damage that’s on par with the Succession and other top-tier PvE sniper rifles. Also, if you don’t like those perks, Clown Cartridge and Frenzy work well together too.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Overflow, Clown Cartridge
- Column Two: Firing Line, Frenzy
Praedyth’s Revenge
It is the best Rapid-Fire Sniper Rifle in Space Bar Clicker. With Rewind shots, Praedyth’s can fire more shots than a Triple Tap Sniper Rifle. And because Season of the Seraph fixed a bug, Rewind Rounds can now happen on Divinity’s critical bubble, making it a good DPS choice.
For a Rapid-Fire Frame, this Sniper Rifle also does a good amount of damage. You can also roll it with High-Impact Reserves, which makes most of your shots do more damage. You can use a Boss Spec mod instead of Backup Mag for even more damage, and the weapon can roll with Tactical Mag.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Rewind Rounds
- Column Two: High-Impact Reserves, Frenzy
Locus Locutus
The Locus Locutus is an Adaptive Frame Sniper Rifle that does damage to stasis. It fills the same role as Thoughtless did in The Witch Queen. Locus is a one-to-one replacement for that weapon if you never got it. Overflow and Firing Line is the chase roll here. This weapon can overflow its magazine and deal 20% more accurate damage when fighting with friends.
Along with single-target DPS, Locus Locutus also has a few rolls that can be used for more general play.High Ground is an interesting choice because it gives you an extra 20% damage when you hit enemies from above. It’s also a good choice if you want to kill groups of adds from afar with a Sniper Rifle. Hit someone in the head once, then blow up the Stasis crystal and do it again. You should farm this tool because it can be used in many ways.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Overflow, Keep Away
- Column Two: Firing Line
Cloudstrike
With Cloudstrike, you can be a sniper in both PvE and PvP. There are lightning bolts that appear every time this Rapid-Fire Sniper Rifle kills an enemy.
The lightning bolts from this weapon do a lot of damage and can usually kill a whole wave of enemies at once. As if that wasn’t enough, Cloudstrike also makes these lightning bolts when it hits something quickly and precisely. When you use Cloudstrike on a boss, a lot of lightning bolts will fall from the sky because this weapon shoots at 140 RPM. With a base aim help value of 68, it does great damage and is very good at getting rid of groups of PvE enemies. With a 64-inch range, Cloudstrike gives you a lot of room to make precise hits. The Cloudstrike is a great Sniper Rifle that will work well in any game types.
Irukandji
If you missed Thoughtless last year, Irukandji is a great movie to watch instead. This Rapid-Fire Sniper Rifle does Stasis damage and has the Veist Stinger origin trait, which makes it reload some of its magazine instantly when it hits something. You can do a lot of damage from a safe distance when you use it with items like Fourth Time’s Charm and Firing Line. This is a good tool, but it won’t be able to remove Succession from power.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Fourth Time’s the Charm
- Column Two: Firing Line
IKELOS_SR_v1.0.3
The IKELOS guns from Warmind are back for a third time, this time with new perk pools and a strong Origin Trait. The IKELOS Sniper Rifle quickly became less popular after the Box Breathing change in Year 1. This version is almost back to how popular it used to be. This weapon’s bonuses make it a lot like Solar Thoughtless, but its Rapid-Fire Frame gives it a little more damage.
Like Thoughtless, the IKELOS Sniper Rifle can get Overflow and Focused Fury, which let you keep firing high-damage shots at bosses and majors. For groups and dungeons, if you don’t like Overflow, you might want to roll with Fourth Time’s the Charm and High-Impact Reserves instead. You can fully craft this version of the IKELOS SR, and it has the same great benefits as the Thoughtless form.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Overflow, Fourth Time’s the Charm
- Column Two: Focused Fury, High-Impact Reserves (with FTTC)
The Supremacy
Since it was added to Destiny 2 through the Forsaken’s Last Wish raid, the Supremacy has been thought of as a good PvP sniper rifle. All Last Wish guns, including Supremacy, got a big boost in Season of the Deep. Not only did that perk update make Supremacy better in PvE, but it also made this gun one of the best Sniper Rifles in Destiny 2.
The bait and switch feature is new to this Sniper Rifle. If you hit a target with all three of your guns, the damage you do goes up by 35%. That’s why Supremacy is a great secondary DPS weapon to use when your main Heavy weapon runs out of bullets. You might want to use Rewind Rounds and Fourth Time’s the Charm if you often farm attacks and have a Divinity ranger. With this setup, you can fire more than 40 shots before you need to reload, which makes the Supremacy one of the most powerful Legendary Sniper Rifles in terms of DPS.
This is a Legendary weapon that lives in the Kinetic slot. It won’t be better than an Exotic Sniper Rifle, but it lets you run an Exotic Primary or Heavy instead. And if you want your Sniper Rifle to kill adds quickly, you can add Kinetic Tremors to the last column of perks to deal damage all around. The best part is that you can make this tool. As a backup weapon for dungeon and raid DPS, the Supremacy is great, but it might not be the best Sniper Rifle for straight burst DPS.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Rewind Rounds, Keep Away, Lead from Gold
- Column Two: Bait and Switch, Fourth Time’s the Charm, Kinetic Tremors
Izanagi’s Burden
Izanagi’s Burden is the best Sniper Rifle for killing enemies with a single shot. This Exotic Sniper Rifle can collapse its clip into a shot that is overcharged, which makes it do a crazy amount of damage. In mid-tier material, one bullet is often enough to kill a Major or even a Champion.
As of now, it’s very simple to make a Rocket Launcher with an Auto-Loading Holster. This means that Izanagi’s Burden is often used for raid boss DPS. Fire a rocket, switch to your Izanagi’s Burden, fire a shot, reload, and do it again. It’s great for Nightfalls, raids, and stuff in the overworld where you need to kill in one round. Watch out, because this Sniper Rifle can get really hungry for ammunition.
Succession
The Succession Sniper Rifle from the Deep Stone Crypt raid might be the best Sniper Rifle for people who want a powerful weapon. It got new perk combinations in Season of the Seraph, but they can’t beat its best combo, which is Reconstruction and Recombination.
With reconstruction and the Vorpal Weapon, you can make an S-tier PvE shooter. This weapon can get a six- or eight-round magazine that reloads itself automatically. If you want better burst damage, you can use Recombination instead of Vorpal Weapon, but you’ll lose steady DPS. Succession is easy to use, can one-shot majors if it has enough Recombination stacks, and reloads itself. It’s hard to find a better PvE Special Workhorse than this one.
Recommended Traits:
- Column One: Reconstruction
- Column Two: Vorpal Weapon, Recombination
