Manali to Leh bike trip road is one of the most beautiful road trips in India. On the first day of the trip you can cover the distance from Manali to Jispa. Jispa is approximately 92 km from Manali, and in Jispa you will get lots of cottages and homestays whose rent varies from 800 to 1000 which can be split between three people easily. Then after staying in Jispa you can go to Baralacha La via Darcha. To reach Baralacha La from Jispa it will take at least 2 hours and on the second day of the trip you have to drive carefully and once you reach Baralacha la then you don’t need to spend much time there because this can lead to high altitude sickness as well. So always make sure that you don’t spend more than five to ten minutes there. Now if we talk about the best time then you can plan this trip from the month of June to September anytime.

But in between you have to just be careful about the monsoons and anyways in winters these roads are closed so you can’t plan from December to March. Moreover in the month of June you can also plan leh trip and can experience a different feeling of this place. During this month of June the actual fun of this road trip is completely different. Because in the highest passes like Baralacha La, Nakeela, you can see lots of snow which is not possible in the rest of the months. After 32 km of journey from Baralacha La pass you will reach Sarchu which is the border between the Union territory Ladakh and Himachal where you have to register your vehicle number and mention the number of people you enter. Besides this you can also have breakfast and tea in Sarchu.
After a 30 minute break in Sarchu you can then continue your journey. And then after Sarchu the next destination where you will get food is going to be pang which is at a distance of 80 km from Sarchu. Always remember that Leh Ladakh remains cold for the entire year so whenever you plan a trip, always carry lots of winter clothes and never forget to carry sunscreen because sunlight here is very harsh .

The road from Sarchu to Pang is not in a very good condition so you have to drive very carefully. And also on the Sarchu you will cross the famous Gata loops which is a beautiful road on the mountaintop and its end is in Nakeela pass. So now if we talk about the permits then from Manali to Leh Ladakh you don’t require any permit. Before when we used to go by Rohtang pass we needed a permit but after the Atal Tunnel no permit was needed. And if you don’t have your own vehicle and still want to do the road trip then you can take the HRTC manali leh bus which has a tariff of around 600 rupees. And also if you want to do this road trip on rented bikes so you can rent from Delhi, manali or chandigarh.
The tariff of the rented bikes vary from 1000 to 1500 and it depends on you which bike you want to choose for the trip.
