Recife is the capital of Pernambuco in northeastern Brazil and a dynamic, bustling seaside city. It was the Dutch and features an intriguing Old Town as well as a modern skyline of gleaming towers along the beach. It is a watery metropolis, with several canals and rivers, as well as a reef-calmed ocean.

Make the Best of Recife:

1. Boat Hitchhiking

You’ve never heard of underwater boat hitchhiking before, and while it may sound complicated. it’s actually rather simple. On this excursion from Recife, you grip the handlebars of an underwater. Hydrodynamic board and hitchhike behind the boat carrying you. The entire purpose of this activity is to view more of the undersea environment in less time! You’re likely to spot fish, stingrays, and turtles as you “hitchhike.”

2. Ricardo Brennard Institute

Last but not least, a visit to the Ricardo Brennard Institute in Recife. This is a must-see attraction in Recife for culture and heritage buffs, as it includes a cultural centre, library, plus art gallery! The Ricardo Brennard Academy is an arts destination with plenty to offer visitors. It is also housed in a historic castle-like building that is worth seeing on its own and is set inside a vast park. The museum also houses the world’s greatest collection of weapons, with over 3,000 historical items!

3. Beijupira

Beijupira is Recife along with Olinda’s finest restaurant, and as such, it’s a must-see while you’re there! Beijupira in Olinda is unique in that it is placed within landscaping and boasts spectacular views. The reality that you have to use a lift to get to the eatery contributes to the atmosphere. Aside from that, the food is wonderful! I ordered the Camaro Folia, and it was delicious! But, I must add, you do pay for quality here, with most dishes costing more than $60 BRL ($11 USD). With that said, it is completely worth it to me.

4. Carnival

Brazil hosts the world’s largest Carnival festival. Many people feel that attending Carnival in Rio de Janeiro or other big cities such as Salvador is mandatory, however this is not usually true. Olinda, in fact, offers some of the most stunning and genuine Carnival celebrations and exhibits in the whole country! We landed in Olinda less than a week before Carnival started, and let me assure you, the atmosphere had become electric – I can’t imagine how fantastic it would be throughout Carnival.

5. Praia dos Carneiros

It is the third and last beach on my list of Recife activities to do. Palm trees, mild sea, and beautiful white sand may be at Praia dos Carneiros. Like the other beaches near Recife, you can swim and snorkel here! But it is the historic small white church, So Benedito, that distinguishes Praia dos Carneiros. It is customary to make a wish here! This beach is also less touristy and developed than others surrounding Recife. It is the ideal location for serious relaxation! Praia dos Carneiros is about an hour and a half from Recife and can be on a guided day trip. You will have approximately 5 hours to enjoy the beach.

6. Porto de Galinhas

This is one of the top things to do in Recife! A day trip to Porto de Galinhas is a lot of enjoyment, and we had a great time doing it throughout the time we were in Recife. Porto de Galinhas beach, about an hour’s drive from Recife, is great for a day at the beach! Porto de Galinhas, like Maragogi’s coastlines, features a reef that puts predators at away! There are also little natural pools formed by the low tide that are ideal for snorkelling.
