In Shandong Province, Jining Medical University, a general undergraduate medical institution, was established in 1952. Currently, the school has three campuses: Jining Taibai Lake Campus, Rencheng Campus, and Rizhao Campus. These campuses occupy a combined area of 1.15 million square metres, with 670,000 square metres of that land being used for buildings.
It is being built jointly with Jining National High-tech Zone as a technological park for education. The school’s fixed assets are worth a total of 1.73 billion yuan, of which the value of its teaching and scientific research equipment is 250 million yuan, and its library has more than 3.6 million books.
There are 2 hospitals that are directly linked with Jining medical university, 16 hospitals that are not affiliated, and more than 170 practise teaching sites. A regional hospital in Shandong Province, the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical College has achieved Level 6 accreditation from the International Hospital Informationization (HIMSS) and has a total fixed asset worth of 2 billion yuan (3,100 beds).
With 750 beds, the attached Shandong Mental Health Centre is Shandong Province’s sole third-level mental health specialist hospital. Shandong Medical College is the first provincial university with a judicial appraisal centre, and the institution has completed both the national laboratory certification and qualification certification reviews in one go.
Currently, Jining Medical University employs 6,165 academic staff members. More than 90 people are present, including well-known national and local educators, outstanding teachers, “Taishan Scholars” foreign experts, model workers, May 1st Labour Medal winners, outstanding young and middle-aged experts, the head of the Chinese Medical Association’s branch for behavioural medicine, and the chief scientific communicator in the field of Chinese behavioural medicine. There are more than 170 supervisors for doctorate and master’s degree students, and there are 8 members total, including the steering committee.
Students are enrolled at Jining Medical University from 28 provinces (cities, districts) nationwide. 16,732 full-time students are enrolled. Ordinary college graduates continue to have an employment rate above 96%, and their postgraduate admittance rate leads other similar institutions.
The institution offers 33 undergraduate majors, including clinical medicine, preventive medicine, and forensic medicine, as well as 19 teaching units, including the basic medical school and clinical medical school. A multi-level school system exists for disciplines, undergraduate and graduate education, continuing education, education for overseas students, and the coordinated growth of Chinese-foreign cooperatively run institutions.
Outstanding doctor education training programs, four national-level specialty construction sites, comprehensive reform pilot projects, provincial-level specialist programs, talent-focused professional development support plan programs, high-level application-focused key construction programs, outstanding engineer education 12 training programs, and other initiatives are all part of Jining Medical University.
